Carr Workplaces is a national provider of alternative workplace solutions with 30 locations in 10 markets throughout the US.

In the summer of 2009, Carr Workplaces (then known as Preferred Offices)
acquired 12 locations from Synergy Workplaces. As part of the integration
process between the two companies, Carr reviewed the billing
platform that was being utilized by both organizations. The former Preferred
Centers utilized a web-based customized platform while the Synergy
Centers utilized MorningStar/BCE which is tailored to the executive
suite industry. As the leadership team for Carr examined the features of
the respective systems, it was determined that the MorningStar platform
had much to offer to a growing executive suite organization. The features
that stood out included:
- a Client Portal that would offer clients the ability to book meeting
and conference room space via the web at any center throughout
the network - the ability to easily process 3rd party credit cards
- the seamless integration of data into the billing process from the
copiers and call accounting systems thus eliminating the need to
“rekey” this information and - the ability to participate in the MorningStar FedEx program which
enhanced Carr Workplaces’ margin on shipping services.
The decision to move to MorningStar has proven to be a wise one. The
Client Portal has been well received by Carr Workplaces’ clients and the
ability to book conference rooms via the web has been an added benefit.
The credit card processing costs have been reduced since Carr is now
participating in the MorningStar national merchant account program. Carr
has reduced the time needed to process billing since many of the variable
fees (e.g. conference room time, FedEx, Long Distance) are now automatically
loaded in the billing platform. Lastly, the MorningStar platform allows
Carr to customize reports that have provided the management team with
the ability to more closely monitor billing revenues and collections.
MorningStar is centered around the management of business centers.
Marketing & Sales and Resource modules
Allows tracking of future clients and automatic generation of proposals. New clients are automatically set up in the billing module.
Prospect Capture Web Interface
Allows web inquiries to be automatically posted to the sales modules. Statistics are presented that help determine sales and marketing effectiveness.
Resource Module
Provides scheduling for meeting rooms. It's tightly integrated with billing. Your client allowances are automatically tracked and you can analyze resource effectiveness and utilization.
